Ethics and Affect: Rethinking the Text and the World

We invite individual papers and themed panels or roundtables (up to 4 speakers per panel, or up to 8 for a double panel) which address the ethical and/or affective relationships between text and world in their broadest sense, encompassing different periods, genres and media. Proposals may rethink the relationship(s) between text(s) and worlds(s) with regard either to ethics, to affect, or to the intersections between them, or offer a critical re-examination of theoretical viewpoints and debates.

Submissions are not required to consider ‘European’ literature(s) per se: we also encourage proposals that think about European/Western dimensions of the study of global literature(s), or the diverse relations between Europe and literatures from the majority world.

The deadline for proposals (panels, roundtables and individual papers) is 30 November 2025.

Acceptances will be sent out by the Scientific Committee by 31 January 2026

Early-bird registration will close on 31 March 2026

The provisional programme will be confirmed by 31 May 2026

Registration will close on 30 June 2026. 

The confirmed programme and book of abstracts will be published by 15 July 2026.

    ISCRIZIONE

    Modalità di iscrizione per aspiranti soci strutturati (docenti universitari e ricercatori) e non strutturati (dottorandi, dottori di ricerca, assegnisti di ricerca, docenti a contratto): 1) L’iscrizione o il rinnovo possono essere fatti mediante il format qui a disposizione. Solo per chi si iscrive per la prima volta alla MOD è necessario allegare - oltre alla ricevuta di pagamento - la scheda di iscrizione per la quale è richiesta la firma di un solo socio effettivo, ossia di un socio che sia docente universitario o ricercatore di Letteratura italiana contemporanea, raggruppamento L-FIL-LET/ 11.

    2) PAGAMENTO DELLA QUOTA ASSOCIATIVA ANNUALE (€ 50) DA VERSARE SUL CC 316/51 della Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (IBAN = IT74R0103002840000063103531, ABI 01030, CAB 02840, CIN R. Per i residenti all'estero: nuovo codice SWIFT = PASCITM1W05) tramite bonifico in favore della MOD-Società italiana per lo studio della modernità letteraria, o versamento in contanti/assegno, dietro rilascio di ricevuta, presso i banchetti allestiti in occasione dei convegni o delle giornate seminariali della MOD.

    Gli aspiranti soci strutturati devono aggiungere alla quota associativa anche il PAGAMENTO della QUOTA DI PRIMA ISCRIZIONE (€ 20). I soci non strutturati non sono più tenuti a versarla.

    L'iscrizione ha validità annuale (scadenza 31 dicembre). I rinnovi si effettuano con il versamento della quota annuale, secondo le medesime modalità sopra indicate. Eventuali cambiamenti concernenti i dati dei soci (e-mail; tel; ecc.) vanno comunicati esclusivamente per posta elettronica al socio che si occupa del database (tesoriere@modlet.it).
